Ohorongo donates medical equipment worth N$1.5m

News in short

Health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula yesterday received a donation of medical equipment worth N$1.5 million from Ohorongo Cement.

He said the equipment will improve service delivery to patients who are in dire need of medical assistance.

The donation included 45 hospital beds, five infusion stands, two wheelchairs, five shower chairs, three physiotherapy tables, general medical supplies and other items.

Shangula said the availability of quality medical equipment is critical to ensuring a strong and consistent workflow.

"If essential medical procedures are not carried out because of lack of essential equipment, this can have serious consequences for the patient.

“The equipment donated today will enhance our capacity to deliver day-to-day care to our patients,” he said.

Ohorongo logistics manager Sion Amalovu added that since the establishment of a partnership between the company and the ministry in 2009, Ohorongo has spent N$77 million in total.

"A healthy nation is a prosperous nation; therefore, I am delighted to mention that more than N$64.8 million of the N$77 million is accounted for for medical supplies and equipment, including today's donation.”
