Every Sunday, Christine Kaengurova turns her home in Goreangab into the “Dish of Hope Soup Kitchen”, providing a place where children from the neighbourhood can come for a warm meal. The UNAM employee cooks together with a small group of helpers, using whatever is available – from rice and soup to bread or simple porridge. During the week, she also gives hungry children something to eat whenever she can.

Once a month, the initiative extends its support to local youth and pensioners. Kaengurova says she covers much of the costs herself, spending around N$800 to N$1 000 per event. Her commitment is also shaped by her own experiences. She grew up in difficult circumstances, left school at a young age and struggled with substance abuse during her youth. She later returned to education and began further training in office administration.
