#JustIn: 586 graduate from Unam in Rundu
During the official graduation ceremony held this morning at the University of Namibia’s (Unam) campus in Rundu, a total of 586 graduates were awarded their qualifications. The majority of these graduates are female, comprising 66% of the total.
This is a cause for concern, according to Unam vice chancellor, Kenneth Matengu. He emphasised the need to address this gender imbalance as it can lead to social instability.
Higher education, technology and innovation minister, Itah Kandjii-Murangi, as well as works and transport minister, John Mutorwa, also spoke at the event, encouraging the graduates to utilise their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the lives of the citizens.
