Prosecutor general Martha Imalwa has directed that Wentzel Maasdorp, accused of the murder of his partner Delia Weimers-Maasdorp, be tried in the Windhoek High Court early next year.
Weimers-Maasdorp, a former NUST employee, was found dead in her Klein Windhoek flat on 28 April 2024, her body wrapped in a blanket with rope around it. The State alleges Maasdorp strangled her between 25 and 28 April, then fled, sold her belongings, and tried to conceal the crime. He faces charges of murder, robbery, fraud, assault and defeating or obstructing justice under the Domestic Violence Act. Arrested in Windhoek on 30 April, he remains in custody. The case has been placed on the High Court roll for a pre-trial hearing on 21 January 2026.
