Man murdered, minor raped at the coast
Two arrests made
It was a dark weekend for the coast, with a man stabbed to death and another arrested for raping his own daughter.
A man was stabbed to death in Swakopmund's Mondesa, while a minor was raped in Kuisebmond in Walvis Bay. Both incidents occurred just after midnight on Saturday.
In Swakopmund, a fight allegedly erupted between Lee Junior Willy and a suspect next to Etunu Bar in Mondesa’s Mandume Ndemufayo Street.
Willy was stabbed with a knife and fled from his attacker. He collapsed about 100 metres from the scene.
The police officers who attended the scene followed the trail of blood until they found Willy laying in a pool of blood. Emergency personnel attended to him and took him to hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect was arrested and is being charged with murder. Willy’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
Rape
In the rape reported in Walvis Bay, a 46-year-old man allegedly raped his 13-year-old daughter.
The incident apparently took place in a room the suspect and victim shared. The man was arrested and is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court today.
