Five suspects have now been arrested in connection with a robbery at African Art jewellery shop in Hendrik Witbooi Street, Swakopmund.
The commander for community policing in the Erongo Region, inspector Ileni Shapumba, earlier today confirmed the arrest of suspect number five in connection with the incident which occurred on Monday between 09:00 and 10:00.
“A South African national (female) was arrested yesterday morning at about 09:50 and we recovered stolen goods to the value of N$273 700. The arrest followed after a tip-off was received from a reliable source. The suspect had booked herself in at PIC (a bed and breakfast), located in Tulinawa Mondesa. Thank you to our detectives for a job well done and the community for sharing information that led to the arrest.”

The getaway vehicle was later discovered in Mondesa in the DRC township.
“Four suspects were arrested and some of the stolen items were recovered. The firearm used, without a serial number, and some rounds of ammunition was confiscated and the vehicle was impounded.”
