Girl (3) killed by stepmom in Omusati

A three-year-old girl was allegedly strangled to death in the early hours of Friday morning at Ohalumbele village in the Onesi constituency of the Omusati Region.

According to the police, the incident occurred at about 07:50 at the residence of the child’s father, Juuso Namusha. It is alleged that a 32-year-old woman, who is the child's stepmother, entered the house where the toddler was sleeping, went into a bedroom and removed the child.

The suspect allegedly carried the girl to a nearby mahangu field, where she strangled her. Police further allege that the suspect dumped the child’s body in bushes in the same field, which belongs to the deceased’s father.

The suspect, a 32-year-old Namibian woman from the same village, has been arrested. Police investigations are ongoing. The motive for the alleged killing remains unclear.
