Former politician Ndumbu in court for allegedly raping 13-year-old

Staff Reporter

Former opposition politician Abraham Ndumbu has been arrested over allegations of raping a 13-year-old female relative.

Police say the alleged abuse occurred repeatedly over nearly a year, between February 2025 and January 2026, at Epy’eshona village in the Okatana constituency of the Oshana region.

According to a police report seen by Namibian Sun, Ndumbu is accused of repeatedly summoning the girl to his bedroom and raping her on multiple occasions.

It is further alleged that he threatened to kill the girl if she reported the abuse.

Ndumbu was arrested last Thursday and appeared in court, where bail was denied.

A divisive figure, he was expelled from Swapo in the early 1990s while serving as president of the student body, Nanso.

He later joined the Congress of Democrats (CoD), formed in the late 1990s, before moving to the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) in 2014.

In 2022, he was expelled from NEFF after allegedly failing to account for approximately N$60 000 that had been entrusted to him to purchase cattle on behalf of the party.
