Foetus found in lunchbox
Over the weekend, passers-by found a foetus in a lunchbox in Windhoek’s Rocky Crest suburb.
The Namibian Police said the foetus is suspected to be between eight to 12 weeks old.
"It is alleged that people who went searching for food in a household bin [made the discovery] and they informed a security guard, who alerted the police,” a police report read.
No suspect has been identified.
Shot over kapana
Meanwhile on Friday in Havana, a Namibian man shot a 28-year-old Angolan man over kapana after an argument over non-payment.
It is alleged that the victim was shot in his right leg, while the suspect was allegedly hit with stones after he shot the man.
Both men are receiving medical treatment at the Katutura State Hospital. Police investigations continue.
Girl lured away, raped
In Rehoboth, a 27-year-old man was arrested for a continued sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl at the Soetdoringlaagte informal settlement.
The sexual relationship reportedly occurred between June and September. A case of rape has been opened.
In Otavi on Friday, a 28-year-old man grabbed a 17-year-old girl while she was walking alone and raped her in nearby bushes in the New Cairo location.
The police report did not mention an arrest, but a case of rape has been opened.
Also in Outjo, in the Etoshapoort location, a man allegedly lured an eight-year-old girl with the promise of sweets, and raped her in nearby bushes.
The man found the victim playing in front of a shebeen with her friends.
"It is alleged that the suspect took the victim behind the bushes, undressed her and told her to lay down. The victim refused, but he allegedly pushed her to the ground and raped her.”
Women nearby saw what happened and when they screamed, the suspect stood up and ran away, the report read.
The women took the victim home and told the child's aunt what they saw.
“No arrest has been made. Police investigations continue.”
Suicides increase
Three deaths by suicide were reported over the weekend in Oniipa, Windhoek and Ondangwa.
In Oniipa, 31-year-old Hipukulwa Fillipus Nghilewapa died by suicide at the Oshaakondwa village on Saturday.
He was found hanging from an electric cable.
No suicide note was found and his next of kin have been informed.
In Windhoek's Khomasdal, 23-year-old Zarin Ru-Gelio Groenewaldt died after hanging himself with a bedsheet.
"His next of kin were informed, no suicide note was left behind and investigations continue," police said.
At the Oshidhigu village in Ondangwa, 19-year-old Frendi Tugamena Amoomo died by suicide.
He was found hanging from a rope, and no suicide note was found.
