Namib Mills ready to conclude wage deal with striking workers
Namib Mills says it is ready to conclude a wage agreement and allow employees to return to work following weeks of negotiations with the Namibia Revolutionary Transport and Manufacturing Union.
In a press release issued on Friday, the company said recent talks aimed at resolving the wage dispute had been constructive and that significant progress had been made on key wage matters affecting employees in the bargaining unit.
However, Namib Mills indicated that the union had introduced additional items outside the scope of the wage negotiations, which has delayed the finalisation of the agreement.
The company also raised concerns about incidents of misconduct during the industrial action, alleging that a small number of individuals engaged in unlawful behaviour, including intimidation, threats and physical harm against other employees.
