Hausiku Petrus drops 'A Love Story II'
Up-and-coming Rundu artist Hausiku Petrus is set to release his new single, 'A Love Story II', a track he says is rooted in Kavango culture and celebrates enduring love in the Rukwangali language.
The 27-year-old musician describes himself as a passionate creative who enjoys football, music and humour, while keeping his Christian faith at the centre of his life.
“The song is inspired by our Kavango culture. It is definitely in the Rukwangali language, and it tells a love story,” he said.
“The whole song tells a story about unbreakable love between two people. The message behind the song is that true love is not for sale," he added.
Petrus explained that the concept came together quickly, taking just four days to fully develop.
The beat was produced by Cota Imnza, while the track features collaborations with El Twakkie Vegas and Hossy DGT.
Petrus admitted that crafting the instrumental was the most demanding part of the process but said the team ultimately achieved the sound he had envisioned.
Growing in the industry
Reflecting on his journey, Petrus remains focused on building recognition.
“I cannot say whether it is good or bad. I am just trying my best to bring my sound to people’s attention.”
Like many emerging artists, he cited insufficient backing as one of his biggest hurdles.
“It is really hard to get people to like your music these days, even when you work hard to give them good music. But I have managed to build a small fan base.”
He credits Namibian music heavyweights The Dogg and Jericho among his key influences.
What’s next
A music video for 'A Love Story II' is already in the planning stages, and Petrus hopes to secure live performance opportunities in the near future. The single will be available on YouTube, Spotify and other major streaming platforms.
For young Namibian musicians trying to break through, Petrus offers simple advice:
“Giving up is not a solution. Even if you don’t have a big fan base yet, just keep making good music – one day it will pay off".
