Crowning moment awaits Namibia’s next queens

This weekend marks the crowning moment in the search for Namibia's next national beauty queens, with the Miss Teen Namibia and Miss Namibia 2026 grand finals taking place today and Saturday at Cattle Country Lodge in Gobabis.

National director of the Miss Namibia Organisation and Miss Teen Namibia, Beaulah Boois-Beukes, told tjil the pageant "belongs to every Namibian, not only to one city".

With this year's pageant being hosted in Gobabis, Boois-Beukes said the organisation is committed to rotating the finals between regions to ensure the benefits are shared across the country.

“Hosting the finals in the regions stimulates local economic activity, creates opportunities for local businesses, artists and tourism, and allows young people to experience the pageant up close,” she said.

Boois-Beukes also spoke about this year's finalists and their growth throughout the competition.

"What has impressed me most is the remarkable transformation we've witnessed throughout this journey. From the host region to the finalists.”

She said audiences can expect to see young women speak with confidence, lead with purpose and carry themselves with authenticity this weekend.

During the interview, Boois-Beukes said the qualities that will ultimately distinguish the winner from the other finalists on crowning night will be about more than appearance.

“Beauty may capture attention, but character sustains a reign.”

She added that the judges will be looking for a young woman who embodies integrity, emotional intelligence, confidence, humility and a genuine commitment to serving others.

Ambassadorial duties

With the Miss Teen Namibia and Miss Namibia titles set to be decided on Friday and Saturday, respectively, Boois-Beukes outlined the opportunities and responsibilities awaiting the winners at national and international levels.

"The winner's reign begins the moment the crown is placed on her head. They will become ambassadors for Namibia, representing our country at prestigious international competitions while championing causes that positively impact communities at home.”

The winners will work alongside partners, participate in national campaigns, engage with schools and youth initiatives, support charitable projects and inspire young Namibians through their leadership and example.

“It will be a demanding year filled with travel, public engagements and international representation, but it is also an extraordinary opportunity for personal growth and lifelong impact,” she said.

Boois-Beukes also had a message for the top 10 finalists in each competition.

To my top 10 finalists, my 'baby sharks', remember that you have already achieved something extraordinary. You have earned your place among Namibia's finest young women, and no matter what happens on crowning night, you should be incredibly proud of how far you have come.”

To every young Namibian girl who dreams of one day standing on the Miss Namibia stage, she said: "To every young Namibian girl watching, never allow your circumstances to define the size of your dreams. Believe in yourself, invest in your education, develop your character and never stop striving to become the best version of yourself.”
