Building a future you can trust within NQA accredited institutions

Ensuring quality, credibility and opportunity
Annemarie du Toit
The Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) ensures that education and training in Namibia meet nationally approved quality standards.

As CEO Harmoni Beukes explains: "It is important for students to know that government funding and subsidies only apply to programmes and institutions that meet the minimum quality standards approved by Cabinet and are accredited by NQA. This ensures that public funds support education that is credible, valuable and worth your effort."

Choosing an accredited institution is more than a requirement; it is choosing a future built on quality, credibility and opportunity.

Beukes further encourages all prospective students, parents and sponsors "to use this list as a trusted reference when considering enrolment. Choosing an accredited institution is choosing a future built on quality, credibility and opportunity."

Accreditation confirms that an institution has the capacity to provide courses and assess learners effectively.

It applies to any person, institution or organisation offering education or training, including conventional schools, training centres within companies, government departments or state-owned enterprises.

All training providers offering courses leading to a qualification must apply for accreditation, whether they are individuals, institutions or departments within larger organisations.

Application forms are available at NQA House in Windhoek or on the NQA website at www.namqa.org

Verify NQA accreditation

Qualifications obtained from accredited institutions are legal, authentic and recognised by employers and other educational institutions.

In contrast, qualifications from unaccredited institutions in Namibia or abroad are not recognised and hold no legal or professional value.

Many unaccredited institutions operate locally and internationally, making it vital for prospective students to verify the accreditation status of institutions and their qualifications before enrolling.

The NQA provides a free service for verifying accreditation. For institutions abroad, learners can complete the "Request for Accreditation Status of an Institution" form and email it to [email protected].

For Namibian institutions, the full list of accredited institutions is available on the NQA website or at NQA House. The NQA responds to all queries within seven working days.

The public is also urged to report any false claims about qualifications or the buying and selling of qualifications through the NQA hotline: 0800 411 411. By using the NQA’s list of accredited institutions and ensuring your qualification comes from a recognised source, you can invest in a future that is credible, respected and professionally meaningful.
