MP criticises Rundu council for failing to send senior officials

During a presentation by the Rundu Town Council to the parliamentary standing committee on urban and rural development yesterday, committee member Prof Job Amupanda criticised the absence of the council’s senior leadership. He said it was unacceptable for junior officials to appear before the committee on serious governance matters, stressing that accountability should rest with the CEO, mayor and senior executives, with junior officers playing only a supporting role.

The presentation was delivered by the strategic executive for committee services, Fransiska Kupembona.

She told the committee that the substantive CEO was out of town attending an urgent consultation, which explained her appearance on behalf of the CEO.
