Old Boys, Wanderers building up steam
Imperial Wanderers Cricket Club 1 and Windhoek High School Old Boys Cricket Club 1 respectively won their One Day Premier League clashes in the capital versus the MR24/7 Welwitschias and CCD Tigers 1 by 8 wickets and 84 runs (R) on Saturday.
The Welwitschias at Wanderers in Pionierspark won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 116 runs for the loss off 10 wickets (W) in 31 overs (OV).
Salmon Nuuyoma top scored with 30 runs (not out) from 33 balls (B) followed by Renier Bosman (26 R, 25 B).
For the host, Karl Birkenstock took 4 W for 43 R, Dewald Nell (2/18), Bernard Scholtz (2/24) and Danie van Schoor (2/4).
Wanderes’ Niko Davin with 65 R, JC Balt (10), Birkenstock (10) and Lo-han Louwrens (8) plus 19 extras, chased down the winning target in 11.4 OV posting 117/2 on the scoreboard.
At CCD, Old Boys won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 191/10 in 41.3 overs.
Ruben Trumpelmann (82 R) and Divan la Cock (43) posted the highest scores. Mauritius Ngupita picked up 4 W for 33 runs and Picky Ya France (3/42).
Ngupita (24 R), Stephen Baard (17), Ya France (17) and Nicol Loftie-Eaton (16) reached double figures with the bat for the Tigers. Gerhard Erasmus was the Old Boys' best bowler (4/19).
