After months of football drought, the Namibia Football Association (NFA) released fixtures of the newly formed Women Super Cup (WSC) Bounce Back tournament starting this weekend.
Fourteen clubs will participate in the tournament, which will run till 27 February 2021.
Some of the well-known club names such as Galz & Goals, Rightway, Omaheke Queens, V-Power Angels, Namib Daughters, Tura Magic, Khomas Nampol, Nust Babes and Unam Bokkies will be joined by Ramblers, who are returning to women’s football, as well as Okakarara, Girls Football Academy, Arrows Ladies and Club Okahandja.
Prepped and ready to go
The cup organisers, namely the NFA Women’s Desk, have put in place strict Covid-19 regulatory measures, having coordinated a Covid-19 information-sharing session for all participating clubs ahead of the weekend.
The session was led by the general manager of women’s football and the NFA acting technical director, Jacqui Shipanga.
Former Brave Gladiators coach and employee of the ministry of health, Brain Isaacks, guided the clubs through the information-sharing process, with the assistance of medic Julia Halweendo, who will be the Covid-19 coordinator together with Isaack for the entire tournament.
At the end of the last WSL season, the NFA provided first-aid supplies to the WSL member clubs and these were handed over to each club.
Match schedules
The first match, between Rightway and Galz & Goals, will kick off at the NFA Technical Centre on Friday at 17:00.
Saturday’s matches to be played at the technical centre are as follows:
