'We are not under pressure'
Young African owner and coach, Maleagi Ngarizemo, says his team will not be under pressure when they face 2016/17 Namibia Premier League (NPL) champions Tigers tonight at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
The Gobabis outfit are the firm favourites to walk away with the win in the round 18, as they continue sitting pretty in second place on the log with 32 points.
However, the coach says they are the underdogs for tonight's clash and that their aim is simply to put in a good performance.
“We do not want to put unnecessary pressure on the players. We are a new team and our focus when we entered the league was to avoid relegation. We have achieved that. Tigers are a big club; they want to pick up points and we have to give them respect, but we will give them a good run for their money,” said Ngarizemo.
Young African won the DebMarine Cup in Gobabis last year and has been the team to watch ever since.
Tigers, under the tutelage of Woody Jacobs, is currently sitting in 12th spot on the NPL table with 18 points. The fear of relegation is rife and the team needs to pick up points in every match if they want to survive.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Civics and Pirates draw 0-0 in a match played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
There were several opportunities for both teams to score, but their finishing touches failed the players.
