Treasury doesn't belong to Swapo

Shocking sentiments have emerged in recent weeks from Swapo functionaries who hinted that the ruling party will “frustrate” incoming opposition councillors by preventing them from delivering services to the masses.

Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) secretary for education Hofni Ipinge was the latest to make these dreadful remarks as he dared the nation to “watch” as Swapo pulls the chain to starve the masses in opposition-controlled areas.

Swapo has never distanced itself from these kinds of remarks, making it look like the ruling party agrees with this stance.

In fact, it's people who make stupid remarks like these that are celebrated in Swapo today and get a comradely pat on the shoulder for their costly utterances.

Then, when the party's whirlwind decline continues unabated, its leaders wonder what went wrong. How, when all the evidence is in front of you?

Any funds in the hands of the Swapo-led central government belong to the people of this land. It would be treasonous to use it as a tool to fight political battles, more so to the detriment of the people.

There are a thousand ways Swapo can win back the lost support, but starving people in opposition-controlled areas isn't one of them. If anything, any absurdity to deny the opposition support from central government will only have Swapo punished further at the ballot.
