Toyota and Pep warm scholars' winter
Keeping kids warm while learning
On 6 June, in the presence of Valerie Tjirimuje representing the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, Pupkewitz Toyota, with Pep Stores, handed over the “Future in a blanket” sister project of the “Future in a bag” project at Green Leaves Primary School on the outskirts of Windhoek.
At the event 140 learners each received a blanket and a pair of socks to keep warm.
Pupkewitz Toyota sells its products and services to its valued customers in Namibia - activities that enable the company to generate profits so it can pay and develop its employees.
Thus far with their main project, “Future in a bag”, Pupkewitz Toyota donated in excess of 2 750 school bags to children in need.
Given the cold and increasing need, Pupkewitz Toyota decided to expand the project to “Future in a blanket”.
The project sets out to donate a blanket and a pair of socks to a child in need whenever a vehicle is sold.
Pupkewitz Toyota would like to extend the challenge to its customers by doing the same whenever they buy a vehicle.
The project not only emphasises the importance of a balanced educational environment, but also the need to ensure children's warmth and comfort at school. The blankets will also show them someone cares.
According to Chanville Mckrill, Principal of Green Leaves Primary School, they are extremely grateful for the donation, as the children need to stay motivated and look forward to school.
Anton Westraadt, dealer principal of Pupkewitz Toyota, further went on to encourage the scholars to cherish their education as it is their key to a bright future.
“You can achieve anything if you work hard. It all starts with being a good scholar,” he said.
Pupkewitz Toyota will be donating the blankets at the end of each month for the duration of winter.
Specific schools were identified by the directorate of education in the Khomas region and will benefit from this initiative for the rest of the year.
Employees will then be deployed to hand the bags over at the identified schools.
