The top-ranked under-12 and under-14 tennis players have been selected to represent Namibia at the three-legged international ITF/CAT African Junior Tennis Circuit 2016 tournaments.
The first Grade 2 event will be conducted in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, from 2-5 May, followed by another Grade 2 tournament in Gaborone, Botswana, from 7-10 May.
Immediately after that, the Namibian juniors can also participate in a lower ranked Grade 3 event from 11-13 May.
The Namibian juniors will play against the best peers from other Southern African countries.
The nine top juniors have the chance to gain international experience at the three prestigious Grade 2 and 3 tournaments which are played on hard surfaces.
Additionally, U-12 players Johannes Swartz and Hendrina Appollus and U-14 players Gena Moolman and Diken de Jong, as the strongest players in their age groups, have been invited by the ITF to a special training camp which will be held in Bulawayo from 28 April to 1 May prior to the tournament series.
The team of young Namibian hopefuls will be accompanied by experienced coach Ngobilizwe Moyo, who is working for the FNB Namibian Tennis Association junior development programme.
