FOR THE LOVE OF READING: The Polytechnic’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research, Dr Andrew Niikondo this week launched a book titled, “The Management and Administration of Development in the SADC Region”. Niikondo as the main author has contributions from academics from the University of Namibia as well as foreign institutions. He said the book will offer methodical and practical knowledge to students in Namibia and abroad. Former Namibian army commander (retired) General Denga Ndaitwah who was a speaker at the book launch expressed concern at the lack of reading culture among Namibians. He also said that it is sad for local bookshops to only have books written by non-Namibians on their shelves. Ndaitwah encouraged Namibians to start reading so that more local authors can start writing books. Namibian political icon Andimba Toivo ya Toivo sent a special message which was read by Tourism Deputy Minister Tommy Nambahu. Other officials included Deputy Minister of Safety and Security Erastus Utoni, and former education minister David Namwandi. PHOTO: Elvis Muraranganda
