Three men face double murder charge
Three young men from Outjo are behind bars following a double murder in which two men were stabbed to death within 43 minutes.
The three were released on bail of N$2 000 each on Tuesday, to the dismay of the community, but bail was withdrawn by the magistrate's court following action from the police's investigating team.
One of the accused is 17 years old and two of the three are involved in other cases of violent crime. One of the three, Willem Haodom (24), is facing a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, while another, Brendon Haradoeb (19), faces a charge of rape at Otjiwarongo.
Inspector Maureen Mbeha, spokesperson for the Otjozondjupa police, said the three allegedly killed two men in the early morning hours of 2 February.
At roughly 02:00, Seth Sidney /Gawiseb (27) was stabbed five times and died instantly.
At 02:43 Brendon Alfredo (26) was stabbed nine times and also died instantly.
The three accused were arrested on the same day and first appeared before the Outjo Magistrate's Court on 4 February.
Bail was denied until Tuesday, when it was granted and withdrawn again.
The matter has been postponed to 24 April.
Mbeha said the police were concerned about the high number of knife crimes at Outjo.
