Boxers Simeon Tcheta of Malawi and Tinashe Mwadziwana of Zimbabwe have vowed to spoil the party for their Namibian opponents this weekend.
The two yesterday arrived in Namibia for the MTC Salute Boxing Academy’s bonanza slated for Saturday at 16:00 at the Windhoek Country Club.
Tcheta faces Namibia’s middleweight boxer Lukas ‘Demolisher’ Ndafoluma for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) African title.
Mwadziwana is facing Nathanial Kakololo, who will be defending his African Boxing Union title.
The two foreign boxers are eager to cause a major upset.
“I am a man of few words, but all I can say is that I am here to battle and take the WBO African middleweight champion,” Tcheta briefly said.
His opponent, Lukas Ndafoluma, is confident that he will make easy work of the Malawian.
“To fight for a WBO title is a dream come true for me and I believe it is the beginning of good things in my career.
“This simply means that I am going for a victory and I swear that he will be defeated.
“I do not want to forget to thank MTC and Salute Boxing for making this possible too,” Ndafoluma said.
Mwadziwana, who will be facing Kakololo, is confident his experience will guide him to victory.
“I am not new to Namibia because I have been here before and even managed to beat Joseph Hilongwa.
“That is why I am ready to take the African Boxing Union belt back home,” Mwadziwana warned.
Kakololo is confident of retaining his title and promised to make his opponent suffer in the ring.
“I want to tell my opponent that he will not win anything and also show his coach, who has tasted victory twice here, that he will go back with nothing,” Kakololo said.
Charles Misanjo of Malawi is also eager to cause an upset against his Namibian opponent, Alpheus Shilongo.
The two boxers have vowed to outpunch each other in a super-middleweight bout over eight rounds.
The event will feature 11 fights and will start at 16:00 in order for them to finish before the 22:00 curfew.
