Taming Tunisia
The Namibian national rugby team is full of confidence and will be eager to beat their North African rivals in their second Africa Gold Cup match.
The Windhoek Draught Namibia senior national rugby team are once again on the hunt for glory this weekend and will be looking to notch up a second win in the Africa Gold Cup, when they visit Tunisia.
Namibia made a great start to their campaign last weekend when they defeated Uganda 56-6 in Windhoek.
They will be hot favourites to come away with the points on Saturday, given the form they are currently in.
Tunisia will however attempt to make things difficult for the Namibian team, who will be playing in front of a hostile Tunisian crowd.
The away side will however be comforted by the fact that they beat Tunisia 53-7 when they met in the same competition last year.
Tunisia, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Morocco and Namibia are playing in a round-robin format in attempt to book their place at next year's Rugby World Cup in Japan. The winners of the Africa Gold Cup will meet world champions New Zealand, South Africa, Italy and the Repechage winner in Pool B.
“Winning our first game was always going to be important because of the nature of the tournament.
“We are going to play each game as if it is a cup final and our aim is to secure all the points in order to book our place at the Japan World Cup,” national team coach Phil Davies said.
The country will be eager to make its sixth appearance at the global rugby showpiece after having previously played in the 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011 and the 2015 editions.
Namibia will be seeking their first-ever World Cup win, if they qualify for the Japan tournament.
