Stars out of Debmarine Cup
Football fans will not be able to watch a match between African Stars and Life Fighters after the 'Reds' pulled out of the NFA Debmarine Cup tournament.
The action resumes this weekend at Otjiwarongo as six clubs attempt to make it to the next round.
African Stars, Blue Waters and Orlando Pirates have joined Black Africa, Tigers and Chief Santos, who last week failed to confirm their participation in the tournament.
The clubs cited a lack of preparation and players as their reason for withdrawing from the competition.
The six remaining clubs in the competition will play at Otjiwarongo.
Outjo FC will come up against United Stars in an early kick-off at the Paresis Stadium on Saturday at 11:00.
The match will be followed by Otjiwarongo FC against premier league side Young Africans at 13:00. That encounter is expected to draw a large number of local supporters.
The final match of the day will be between Mighty Gunners and Citizens FC fighting for the final spot in the Round of 16. The match will begin at 15:00 with local supporters expected to cheer for Mighty Gunners.
The 'men in uniform' are likely to produce an emphatic display given that they will have the home-ground advantage.
Citizens FC will be comforted by the fact that they have made it to the final of the NFA Cup competition before.
Gendev FC, Rundu Chiefs and Life Fighters automatically qualified for the Round of 16 after their opponents - Orlando Pirates, Blue Waters and African Stars - pulled out.
Young Beauties, Unam, Young Chiefs, Eleven Arrows, Touch & Go, Tura Magic, Civics, Bee Bob Brothers, Gendev, Life Fighters, Rundu Chiefs, Eastern Chiefs and Try Again are already in the draw for the next exciting chapter of the 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup.
Tickets are selling for N$30 at Computicket at Shoprite and Checkers countrywide.
