Regional council sponsors Mboma, Masilingi

The Kavango East Regional Council (KERC) has decided to sponsor the two sprinting sensations, Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi, to the tune of N$10 000 each to assist them ahead of the Olympics slated for next month in Tokyo, Japan.

The announcement was made yesterday by Kavango East governor Bonifatius Wakudumo at a media briefing in Rundu.

“As we are celebrating their achievements, the Kavango East Regional Council has committed an amount of N$10 000 to each of them to assist them in their preparations for the Olympic Games,” Wakudumo said.

He added that they will lobby more support from individuals and the business fraternity.

A regional technical committee has been appointed to handle all activities surrounding the sourcing of sponsorships and ensuring that when the two athletes return from the Olympic Games, they are welcomed in style.

“We are thus calling upon the Namibian nation to rally behind them because their achievement is a Namibian achievement. We wish them good health and zeal as they prepare for the Olympic Games,” Wakudumo said.
