Outapi wall collapse victim identified
The Omusati police have identified the woman who died on Tuesday when a wall collapsed onto her at a construction site at Outapi.
Elina Ndeshipanda Joas Iiyagaya, 37, from Onamula village in the Oshana Region died on the spot when a wall fell on her while she was taking shelter from a strong wind.
Another worker, identified as Iimene Lazarus, 45, was seriously injured and is receiving treatment at the Oshakati State Hospital.
The police spokesperson for the Omusati Region, Warrant Officer Lineekela Shikongo, said an inquest docket has been opened.
According to Shikongo, workers building the Omusati police regional headquarters were taking cover from a whirlwind when a dry wall collapsed onto them.
The workers are employed by Amupolo Building Contractors.
Late last month, a similar incident happened when two builders at the Outapi mall construction site died after a wall collapsed onto their scaffold and they plunged to the ground.
