Oshana benefits from Old Mutual’s Covid-19 food outreach

Old Mutual has delivered food parcels to the value of N$109 000 that will benefit 180 households in the Oshana Region.

The handover took place at the office of the governor in Oshakati on 8 September, making Oshana the 12th region to benefit from the company’s Covid-19 food outreach.

In March this year, Old Mutual made a commitment of N$5 million towards Covid-19 prevention efforts, of which N$1 million was set aside for food supplies to benefit vulnerable individuals and communities in all 14 regions.

The office of the governor and the Oshana Regional Council identified individuals in all 11 constituencies of the region that are in dire need of basic food items.

This brings the total value of Old Mutual’s food outreach to N$1.445 million, supporting 2857 people in 12 regions to date.

At the handover, Old Mutual northern sales manager Ruben Nikanor said, “As a responsible and caring business that has been serving Namibians for the past 100 years, Old Mutual will continue to fulfil its commitment as a certain friend in uncertain times.”

Nikanor thanked the governor’s office and the regional council for their role in identifying nutritionally balanced food parcels and responsibly handling the storage and distribution.

Governor Elia Irimari thanked Old Mutual on behalf of the people of the region.

Old Mutual expects to hand over donations to the remaining two regions by the end of this week.
