Pregnant woman raped in South A woman said to be in the final stage of pregnancy was allegedly raped by a 29-year-old man at the settlement of Kries on Friday. Kries is situated near Gibeon in the Hardap Region. A police spokesman, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi, said the woman is expected to give birth next month. It is alleged that the suspect threatened his victim with a knife before he took her to his dwelling, where he allegedly raped her repeatedly. The suspect allegedly threatened to kill the woman if she told anyone about the incident. The suspect was arrested and was due to appear in court at Mariental yesterday. Another rape was reported at Okatope village in the Oshikoto Region’s Omuthiya area last week. A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old at the village last week. The suspect has been arrested. Police investigations into the matter continue. Windhoek shebeen robbed A shebeen located in Cuba Street in the Okuryangava residential area of Windhoek was allegedly robbed of N$5 700 in cash over the weekend. The robbery occurred on Saturday. A group of robbers allegedly held the bartender at gunpoint. Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said the armed robbery took place at about 21:00 on Saturday. No arrests have been made yet, and the stolen money is yet to be recovered. Police investigations into the matter are under way. A similar incident took place at Rundu in the early hours of Sunday when five armed men held a security guard at gunpoint at Rainbow Village and stole N$2 000 in cash, as well as five mobile phones valued at about N$7 500.
