Namibian, Chinese bust at border post
A Namibian and Chinese national were arrested today at the Vioolsdrift border post allegedly trying to take R2.5 million across the border. The South African border police intercepted the money that was allegedly en route to Cape Town from Namibia.
The two suspects were immediately arrested for money laundering. According to Sergeant Brigadier Ramasteba, who spoke to Namibian Sun, one suspect is aged 41 and the other 32.
Northern Cape police provincial commissioner, lieutenant-general Risimati Peter Shivuri, commended the vigilance and alertness of the officers that led to the discovery of the money.
The suspects are expected to appear before the local magistrate tomorrow.
