Naidjala more focused on ranking than title
The WBO bantamweight interim continental champion, Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala, says he still wants to improve his ranking in this division.
He told Namibian Sun yesterday that he was working hard in the gym.
Naidjala is currently ranked fifth in the world in the bantamweight division and he wants to reach the top.
He is scheduled to fight Klass Mboyane from South Africa for the WBO Bantamweight Intercontinental title on 11 June at the Ramatex Hall in Windhoek.
“Many people are waiting for this fight and now it will happen on that night,” said Naidjala.
The champion, who won the title early December last year against Nasibu Ramadhani, said he was not worried about the title but about the ranking.
“All the preparation is going well and I will compete with myself so that I can beat him,” said Naidjala, who has a record of 25 fights, 22 wins, two losses, one draw and 13 knockouts.
“He is an experienced guy and he has been here in Namibia three times.”
Mboyane defeated Simon Negodhi, Abmerk Shindju and Paulus Ambunda in previous fights in Namibia.
He has 30 fights, with 18 wins, 10 losses, two draws and nine knockouts.
Tickets are available from Computicket at N$100 general admission, N$500 VIP and N$20 000 for a table.
There will be five exciting fights on that night:
WBO Africa Welterweight title
Sacky ‘Izinyoka’ Shikukutu v Cosmas Cheka (Tanzania)
WBO Africa Featherweight title
Sakaria ‘Desert Storm’ Lukas v Edward Kakembo (Uganda)
WBO Bantamweight Intercontinental title
