NAC workers get 8%
Employees within the bargaining unit of Namibia Airports Company (NAC) last week received confirmation that their salaries would be hiked by 8% for the current financial year.
NAC CEO Tamer El-Kallawi and Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu) executive personal assistant Mateus Ndeshikeya signed their 2016/2017 wage negotiation agreement in Windhoek on
Thursday, after discussions were concluded on 13 October.
“I''m very glad to sign the wage and substantive negotiation agreement today as demonstration of our
commitment as NAC, to our employees,” El-Kallawi, said, commending the union and workers for what he called maturity during the negotiation process.
Ndeshikeya likewise hailed the company''s manner during negotiations, and called on union members to remain hard-working.
“This testifies to the seriousness on both sides and I therefore call
upon our members to remain focused on performance. We cannot demand without performing and we should always uphold good standards and behaviour at all times,” Ndeshikeya said.
The parties said they had already started in earnest with deliberations on 2017/2018 remuneration, with reviews of medical aid,
housing, transport and employees'' total cost to company model, all under consideration.
