More relief for pensioners

The poverty ministry has announced a N$50 increase in old-age pension grants bringing the total monthly payout to N$1 300. While this was announced as from 1 April this year, the ministry this afternoon said that pensioners will receive a once-off payment of N$1 500 at the start of September which includes the N$1 300 grant for the month and N$200 back pay for April, May, June and July. The payment for August was N$ 1 300, the ministry said.
