Man stabbed to death on Christmas in Omaheke
A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by two men in the Tallismanus communal area of the Omaheke Region on Christmas Day.
According to Police Deputy Commissioner Marcellus Maritshane, the three men had quarrelled earlier the day.
That night the argument resumed and the two suspects stabbed MacDonald Haimbodi. The suspects, aged 28 and 21, have been arrested.
Maritshane said five accidents had been reported in the Omaheke region since December 22, but only one was serious.
In that accident ten children and the driver of a Toyota bakkie were injured when it overturned between Tiervlei and Tallismanus in the Otjibende Constituency on Saturday morning.
The police officer said the bakkie’s driveshaft apparently broke off and the loose end stuck into the road surface, causing the accident.
Maritshane said the children were all aged between 11 and 15.
The 40-year-old driver and the children were all seriously injured and were taken to the Gobabis State Hospital.
In another accident in Windhoek an Iveco bus overturned on Christmas Day at about 03:55 at the T-junction of Michelle Mclean and Aus Road.
The bus apparently had the right of way, but a taxi that was travelling in the opposite direction failed to stop.
The bus was carrying 20 passengers. Fifteen of them were slightly injured and one person in the taxi was also injured.
