A 41-year-old man died instantly on the B1 road south of Okahandja after the red sedan he was driving collided with a bus that was transporting construction workers yesterday morning.
Otjozondjupa police spokesperson, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, said the accident occurred at about 05:58.
“The deceased has been identified as Moses Haikela who was alone in the red sedan with an Oshakati registration number plate,” said Mbeha. Haikela's close relatives have been informed of his death.
It is alleged that Haikela, who was travelling from the direction of Windhoek towards Okahandja, attempted to overtake a vehicle on a curve and in the process collided head-on with the oncoming bus.
Nine out of the 48 workers sustained injuries, said Mbeha.
Police investigations continue.
