Turning ideas into a reality is Ndakondja Uusiku’s superpower. Uusiku is a 20-year-old man from Ongwediva who started the Purposeful Camp Namibia (PCN) on 12 June 2019. He hosted his first camp when he was only 19 years old with about 60 young people at the Waterberg resort in December 2019 and hosted his latest camp in December 2020. The aim of the camp is to instil a culture of engaging in purposeful occasions, hence the name Purposeful Camp Namibia. The whole idea was to create a platform where the young people can share and learn from one another. The long-term goal of the Purposeful Camp Namibia (PCN) is to see its annual alumni conquering and taking charge of their lives. PCN seeks to send out confident and powerful influencers, trailblazers, positive disruptors and innovators into the mainstream youth development sphere of Namibia. “The word purposeful in the name of our camp, Purposeful Camp Namibia, sets and aligns with the mission and vision of the work that we do,” he says.
Ndakondja attended Nekulilo Omagano Memorial School and Canisianum Roman Catholic High School, one of the best performing private schools in Namibia. He is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in accounting at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). He has also attended the Olafika SME Development and Mentoring Programme. He says the passion he has for his work is what constantly motivates him to bring his ideas to life.
Teamwork makes the dream work, says Ndakondja, who has an amazing team with 10 members who are part of the management of Purposeful Camp Namibia. Ndakondja is an innovator and entrepreneur; apart from Purposeful Camp Namibia, Ndakondja is also the founder of Purposeful Trips and Thumela Lifestyle.
