Kilimanjaro Boxing Club to host tournament
Utoni to be awarded
This Saturday will see amateur boxers duking it out at the MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club's tournament at Ongwediva.
The MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club at Oshakati announced it will host its amateur boxing tournament at Ongwediva on Saturday.
Speaking at a media briefing, the club's chairperson, retired boxer Joseph Bernhard, said boxers from northern Namibia, Opuwo and Windhoek will participate in the tournament.
It will take place at the Sam Nujoma Multi-Purpose Centre at Ongwediva on 29 February.
He also announced that the club's patron, youth minister Erastus Uutoni, will be awarded during the tournament for his support to the club since 2007.
According to Bernhard, Uutoni will be accompanied by the Oshana regional governor Elia Irimari and the Ongwediva town mayor Angelina Angula.
Local business owner Erastus 'Mnyango' Mvula announced that he would support the tournament, although he declined to say how much he would sponsor.
Mvula encouraged the boxers under the Kilimanjaro Boxing Club to excel in their boxing career as it will motivate the business community to keep supporting them. - NAMPA
