The lawsuit in which Augustinus Katiti is suing his former employer, the Namibia Institute of Pathology, will be heard in May 2021, High Court Judge Herman Oosthuizen said this week.
Katiti claims that the state-owned enterprise failed to honour an agreement to pay him a N$3.8 million golden handshake upon the termination of his contract in August 2018.
Katiti had been fired by the NIP for alleged unscrupulous behaviour during his time as CEO.
NIP board chairperson Dinna Shuuluka stated in the termination letter that Katiti had frustrated a disciplinary process into his conduct.
Katiti was initially suspended in June 2018.
Prior to his sacking, Shuuluka wanted to know why the NIP's investment policies were ignored when the company withdrew N$18 million from an investment account at Old Mutual in November 2016 and June 2017, The Namibian reported at the time.
Katiti was also asked to explain the purchase of office furniture imported from Italy.
