Kaizen suffer their first defeat in SSFD
It took six matches of the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) for Kaizen FC to suffer their first defeat in the league after they were promoted at the beginning of the season.
That happened last weekend when Ramblers stopped the hard-running team in their tracks.
Kaizen FC had started the league like a house on fire, but they were stopped on Saturday by former Namibia Premier League (NPL) side Ramblers, who beat them 1-0.
The team bounced back the next day when they took revenge to defeat Spartans FC 2-0 on Sunday at the Ramblers Stadium.
The Windhoek-based side is coached by James ‘Don-Don’ Britz and surprised a lot of football fans with their good showing in the Bidvest Namibia Cup last season.
They were the only team from the second division to make it to the quarter-finals of Namibia’s premier competition.
Despite the loss, they are still topping the SSFD as they are on 13 points, which they are sharing with Flamingos and Young African.
Kaizen edge both due to a superior goal difference.
The young team seems to have a brilliant defensive record so far after netting nine goals but conceding only one goal.
Young Brazilians, meanwhile, appear to have a superb striking force as they are the ones who have scored the most goals (15) in the league.
Meanwhile, Desert Rollers are still struggling after making a bad start to the season.
After six matches they don’t have any points.
They have the worst defensive record as they have conceded 16 goals.
Surprisingly, they are not the team with the fewest goals scored.
That dubious honour belongs to Ramblers, who have found the back of the net only three times compared to Rollers, who have scored five times.
This weekend will not see any action in any of the national first divisions owing to the election today.
The leagues will return to action with round seven and eight next weekend.
