Indonesia wants our meat
High-ranking diplomats from the Embassy of Indonesia in Namibia officially visited Meatco’s Windhoek abattoir recently to familiarise themselves with the business and its foreign trade channels.
The visit highlighted possible future business prospects between the two countries, since imports from countries like New Zealand and Australia cannot provide enough meat for Indonesia’s population of 250 million people. Consequently, thanks to Meatco’s high-quality beef, the possibility of trade negotiations for export to that country may be considered in future. On behalf of the delegation Indonesian Ambassador Eddy Basuki expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Namibia’s leading meat processing entity, adding that his country is more than happy to consider Meatco for the possibility of future cooperation. The group also undertook a tour of the plant to experience operations first-hand and to gain a thorough understanding of operations at the plant. To conclude the visit, senior manager: stakeholder relations Lapitomhinda Hashingola presented a business overview of Meatco followed by a question and answer session for in-depth deliberations with the delegation.
