Karibib Private School hosted its annual prize-giving ceremony last week, with the theme ‘Moving Mountains with Your Dreams’.

The best learners in grades one to twelve were awarded at the event. Numerous sponsors came on board to make it a memorable event with trophies and cash prizes for the students.

The guest speaker was Richard Manyanga, senior geologist at Navachab Mine, who emphasised that passion for what you do is crucial for a successful career and happy life.

“Not all learners are academically inclined. As parents we need to nurture the talents of our children, which can be music, arts or playing sports. We shouldn’t force our children to do something they don’t want to do. Where the passion is, there lies the talent of our children.

“My challenge to the learners is: there are three type of people, those who make things happen, those that watch things happen and those who wonder about the things happening – who do you choose to be?”

The sportsmen and women were the first ones to be awarded for their excellence on the sport fields.

Primary phase sportswoman of the year was Angela Kasale, and the sportsman was Nizaar Greenwood.

Supii Kapika was the secondary phase sportswoman of the year, while sportsman was Mbino Kazavanga. The overall best volleyball player of the year was Jamie Hango.
