Glory in sight for Naidjala
Immanuel 'Prince' Naidjala will challenge Jason 'The Smooth One' Moloney for the Commonwealth and WBA Oceania crowns on Saturday.
Former WBO African, WBO Inter-Continental, WBA Pan African and IBF International champion, Immanuel 'Prince' Naidjala, will face undefeated Jason 'The Smooth One' Moloney in Australia on Saturday for the vacant Commonwealth bantamweight and WBA Oceania bantamweight titles.
The Namibian has a record of 28 fights, 23 wins, four losses and one draw and will square off against the undefeated 26-year-old Moloney, who boasts an impressive 15 fights and 15 straight wins with a knockout record of 12.
On paper Naidjala will be the toughest opponent of Moloney's professional career.
Ranked number 70 by Boxrec.com in the bantamweight division, the 33-year-old Namibian lost a competitive decision for the WBO 118-pound title to Japanese world champion Tomoki 'El Mexicanito' Kameda in 2013.
However, he is back on his feet and said the fight means everything to him.
“I know I have to step up my game to get back to winning ways. I feel my preparation this time has been different, I feel much more confident and would like to thank the MTC Sunshine team for their unwavering support and countless opportunities, I know it is now up to me to make things happen and I promise not to disappoint. Moloney, I'm coming for you,” said Naidjala.
Maloney is also not taking the challenge presented by the Namibian pugilist lightly.
“I think Immanuel Naidjala will certainly be my toughest opponent to date. Naidjala is a very fast and skilful boxer who lost a close points decision for the world title, so he is obviously a great fighter.
“I'm really excited about this fight. I know this is going to be a tough test for me and we have been preparing ourselves very well. I feel like I'm making huge improvements in the gym and I believe I'm definitely ready to take my career to the next level,” said Moloney.
