Get the jab

The Namibia Premier Football League will soon issue a directive to affiliated teams to get their players vaccinated.
It is unclear how many players have been vaccinated, but Namibian Sun understands that many of them are yet to receive the jab.
No official communique has been sent out with regard to that, but league director Mabos Vries hinted at issuing a statement sometime soon.
“I believe that we will communicate with the clubs soon in order for them to have their players vaccinated.
“The truth is that these players are in contact with each other on a daily basis and it will be logical if they are vaccinated.
“There is definitely a concern from the league and we will make sure that we spread the message to all the players and officials involved in the league,” Vries said.
The league director made these remarks after Namibia Rugby Union president Corrie Mensah urged rugby players and administrators to get the jab.
Namibia has acquired some Indian Covishield and Chinese Sinopharm vaccines and aims to vaccinate 60% of its population.
Orlando Pirates coach Woody Jacobs is also encouraging his players to get vaccinated.
“Getting the players vaccinated will be very important for the clubs and the league itself.
“The fact that they do not test them before and after games is already clear indication that they need that jab as soon as possible,” Jacobs said.
Tigers coach Ali Akan shared the same sentiments as his Pirates counterpart.
“We all know how deadly this virus has been and having everyone taking a jab will be very important.
“There are so many games and players will always be in contact with different people and that is why it is very important that they get vaccinated,” Akan said.
