Geiger claims top honours at bass angling tourney
The annual Bank Windhoek NBAA (Namibian Bass Angling Association) national competition was held from September 18-20 at Oanob Dam.
Jurgen Geiger won the title with an impressive second-day bag of 11.945 kg, followed by Alec Williams in second place.
The tournament started with a full practice day where anglers had a chance to pattern the dam.
The second day started with a captain’s meeting and over 25 boats were present, making this one of the biggest national events ever hosted.
Good fish were caught on day one, with Thinus Williams catching the biggest bass of the tournament of 3.646 kg.
All anglers knew that day two on Oanob Dam is normally very difficult as the dam does not take kindly to fishing pressure.
In the end it was a close affair between Geiger and Williams with the former winning the title after catching a bag of 11.945 kg.
