Farmer shot and killed
A farmer in the Outjo district, Heinz Kossman, 71, was shot dead - allegedly by his farmworker - last night. The incident occurred at farm Aasvoëlkrans some 70km out of Outjo on the Khorixas road. According to the police, the suspect, a male Namibian aged 30, only worked for Kossman for two to three weeks. Kossman is said to have been shot with his own revolver in his right knee and head. The suspect then ran away with Kossman’s firearms. Kossman was rushed to the hospital in Outjo but was declared dead on arrival. The suspect was arrested by the police at a temporary road block about 9 km from Outjo. He was found with one revolver, one pistol and cash of N$1737. Details released by the police indicate that an argument had ensued between Kossman and the worker over work he was doing. The suspect took the revolver which was in the garage and shot the man. Investigations continue.
Kossman owned and managed a hunting operation called Ongue Safaris.
