Erongo wins netball category

Erongo Region were crowned winners of the 19th edition of the Namibian Newspaper Cup netball category after they dispatched pre-tournament favourites Khomas 45-28 in the final played at Mariental on Monday.
The girls from the coast were lethal in front of the hoops and led 11-06 in the early stages of the match.
The goalkeeper and goal defender of Erongo were solid at the back and snuffed out most attacks from the Khomas team.
The first quarter ended 11-06 in Erongo’s favour. In the second quarter Erongo pulled clear to lead 15-08 with the stubborn defence of Erongo taking nothing for granted.
Erongo were more clinical in the second quarter and extended their lead to 20-09. At the end of the second quarter, Erongo were leading 20-10.
The third quarter saw Khomas trying to get back into the match, but Erongo’s pint-sized centre pulled all the strings with her telling passes to her front two, with Erongo leading 27-14 deep into the third quarter.
In the fourth and final quarter, Erongo kept their momentum and extended their lead 43-27.
At the final whistle Erongo won 45-28 to dethrone Kavango East.
Player of the match was Mbahimua Kakuenje from Khomas.
