Entertainers, invest in you
Invest in yourself. The greatest decision you can ever make is to plough back into your career. There are way too many success stories and you can become one of them. Some of you have been in the industry for many years and you have nothing to show for it. You do not have a studio, you do not own a camera, you do not have a publicist, a manager, and so many other essentials that are needed for you to progress and excel in your career.
If you have been in the industry long enough, you must have learned a couple of essential skills. Investing in yourself does not necessarily mean you pump money into your career. It relies heavily on the kind of skills you have managed to acquire over the years.
The minute I say the word investment to an entertainers, their brains instantly jump to funds. While financial investment is an important aspect needed to create a professional product, it is not the only, or even the most crucial, investment that you can make. I know many artists who do not even have their own cameras for shooting videos and that is totally unacceptable, especially if you raked up valuable experience over the years. How do you expect the corporate industry to invest in you if you cannot even expand on your own brand? And this is not an attack on any entertainers, just a wake-up call, more so to the upcoming entertainers.
Investing time in educating yourself first will help you feel more confident in tough situations and will help you avoid making the same mistakes, or even help you to make the decision to walk away from ventures that simply are not working out anymore. You must invest your time, your energy, and your all into your craft if you want to create a recipe for success.
