Desert Storm eyes Mkandawire
Unbeaten World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa featherweight boxer Sakaria 'Desert Storm' Lukas and Malawi's Yamikikani Mkandawire will face each other on 6 December, it was announced yesterday at an event which also doubled as a launch for the AC Boxing Academy.
The showdown, themed 'Rising Stars of Africa', will take place at the Paragon Crescent Suites in Windhoek and will follow in the steps of the Global Boxing Stars (GBS) arm in the Philippines run by Sean Gibson and Manny Pacquio as they try to expose raw talent.
The boxing event is promoted by AC Boxing Promotions in association with Kinda Promotions and the CEO of GBS Scott Patrick Farrell, who has moved to Botswana to help support Immanuel Moses, owner and trainer at AC Boxing and Fitness gym.
“We are also supported by Viva MP Promotions and GBS to build African prospects. It is great to be finally building the talent and entertaining the boxing fans with some great shows and showing exciting talent,” said Moses.
“Our first prospect is Lukas and Farrell is already negotiating his fight for February 2020 in the US.
“One of the names dropped in the hat as a potential opponent is that of WBA Gold champion Jessie Magdaleno,” Moses added.
Lukas boast a record of 22 fights, all of them wins, whereas his opponent has a record of 15 fights, with seven wins, one draw and seven losses.
