Bank Windhoek assists the needy
Bank Windhoek believes that together people can make the world a better place by being compassionate and considerate towards the needy and less privileged members of society.
Bank Windhoek spokesman Toivo Mvula says the annual Bank Windhoek ‘Empathy Project’ encourages staff members to help members of their communities. This year’s project took place from October 20 to November 21.
He says each Bank Windhoek branch and department identified an organisation in the communities in which they live and work and the bank staffers supported these organisations. The Bank earmarked N$142 500 for this project.
More than 60 organisations in all 14 regions of the country have benefited from the project, including children’s homes and shelters such as Megameno Children’s Home and Noah’s Ark in Katutura, Witvlei Orphanage Home at Witvlei and Mafuta Orphanage Care Centre at Katima Mulilo.
Schools such as Salo Creche and Pre-school in Omaruru and Pashukeni School in Windhoek, old-age homes such as Huis Palme in Walvis Bay and Katutura Old Age Home, and animal shelters such as the Okahandja SPCA also benefited from the initiative.
“The Empathy Project has successfully entrenched a culture of empathy amongst our staff members since it was established in 2006. Empathy is one of the six values of the Bank Windhoek brand and we are indeed proud to see our staff members living up to this value and making an effort to make a difference in their communities. This project demonstrates once again that together we do better, for the benefit of all,†says Marike de Jager, Head of Brand Marketing at Bank Windhoek.
