Auntie Nangy
Can I fall pregnant?
Dear Auntie Nangy
I'm a 21-year-old girl and the condom burst while we were having sex, and it was only four days after my period. Is it possible that I might be pregnant? Reply too my number as I hardly get newspapers.
Unfortunately I cannot reply to your number, but do keep in mind that you can read the Namibian Sun on the website www.sun.com.na. Forget everything you have heard about when pregnancy occurs. Researchers have found that the potential for fertility exists on almost every day of a woman's menstrual cycle, with the window of fertility even more unpredictable for teenagers. Even women with normally regular menstrual cycles should be advised that their fertile window can be significantly unpredictable. Because a sperm may live in the female's reproductive tract for up to seven days and the egg remains fertile for about 24 hours, a woman can get pregnant within a substantial window of time, from seven days before ovulation to three days after.
He cheated on me, now she is pregnant
Dear Auntie Nangy
I'm a 23-year-old lady and I am dating a 21-year-old guy. I really love him but he cheated on me with my friend's sister and now she's pregnant. They had kept it secret for long till one of my friends told me. What must do I do? I already forgave him, but I am still sad if I think about it.
Many who have been in a relationship know that the hardest part is overcoming the break-up. However, many do not know that no matter how long the relationship was, you do not need to spend months and years reminiscing and crying about the loved one you've lost. Although moving on from your past partner can only take place with time, there are many ways to speed it up and help you move on with a lighter heart. The first and most important part of a break-up is to force yourself to let go. Even if you want to stay friends with your past partner, now is not the time. You must also resist the temptation of trying to remind yourself of the past relationship by looking at mementos of the relationship, such as old letters, pictures or any gifts your ex may have given you. The point here is that you can't begin to overcome the break-up if you're still holding on to the past partner or relationship. The second step to allowing yourself to move on is to ask yourself the reason for your pain. Avoid easy and simple answers, such as you loved him or he was a great person. Delve deeper and analyse yourself to really discover what is making you so incredibly sad. Try making a list if his good and bad qualities and a list of the good and bad qualities of your relationship. Another important step that you must maintain throughout the entire process of overcoming the break-up is to keep yourself busy! Do not allow yourself the time to sit around and brood. Start exercising, go out with friends, take up a hobby and get involved in it, because as long as you're not doing something, you're not helping yourself. Now I know everyone says moving on too quickly is not a good idea, but no one's saying move on to a serious relationship right away, but it's time to start thinking about dating again as well!
I don't get my period
Dear Auntie Nangy
I have big problem. I'm 14 and I don't get period. Please help me.
Puberty or delayed sexual development in girls mainly refers to the absence of development in breasts or their lack of ability to menstruate, even after attaining their primary sexual characteristics, including breast development and the growth of pubic hair. Normally the average age for a girl to develop into puberty is between nine and 15 years, but delayed puberty can even last until the early 20s. The delay in development of essential sexual features in girls can be due to many different reasons, including an underlying chronic disease or even the presence of certain abnormal chromosomes in the body. Certain underlying diseases can cause a delay in sexual development. As you can see it is not at all uncommon for girls to experience delayed puberty, so don't get depressed as there are many treatment options available. Angel, see a doctor. Even if there is not really anything wrong with you, it is better to be safe than sorry.
My penis itches
Dear Auntie Nangy
I have a problem. The skin around my penis is always itching. I went to the doctor many times, but nothing helped. Please help.
I cannot help with medical problems, but what I do suggest is that you see another doctor.
I am losing weight
Dear Auntie Nangy
I have a problem. I was fat and started losing weight since the start of last year. Although I'm an alcoholic and sexual active, I always do condomise. I even went for a medical check-up and did an HIV-test two months ago, which came out negative. What could be the problem? Please help.
The problem is probably the fact that you are an alcoholic, as alcohol is known to cause weight loss. Addressing your alcohol addiction would probably sort out your weight-loss problem as well.
